Aqaba receives a cruise ship with 350 passengers on board on Wednesday

Wednesday,The 29 of June , Aqaba City received a French cruise ship, carrying 350 passengers.

Commissioner for Tourism and Environment at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Dr. Nidal Al-Majali, said that the ship will dock in the port of Aqaba from Wednesday, June 29, until Saturday the second of July.

Al-Majali explained that an integrated daily tourist program has been prepared for the tourists, as they will be transported between Aqaba, Wadi Rum and Petra.

He noted that this ship was not included in the schedule of 64 cruise ships confirmed to come to Aqaba during 2022, indicating that the city of Aqaba meets all tourist requirements.

Regarding the tourist season in Aqaba, he indicated that the tourist season records higher numbers than expected, as last May recorded an increase in tourism numbers of 5% compared to the year 2019, which precedes the two years of the pandemic.

Al-Majali described hotel occupancy in Aqaba during the middle of the week as “shy”, as it does not exceed 33%, pointing out that it rises to more than 55% during the weekend.

He pointed That the reservations in Aqaba for the Eid al-Adha holiday Start, and that its indicators are likely to rise during the next week.

He reiterated that the tourist movement in the city was not affected by the incident of the explosion of a chlorine gas tank, and that no reservations in Aqaba had been cancelled.
